We are almost there! ...Cambodia!
Hi dear Friends and family!
We have some good news to share! Our Lord is a good Father and faithful and the first part we needed for our outreach fees were covered! Praise the Lord! Our team bought the tickets to Cambodia! We are flying out on March 30th and we'll be back in Kona on May 26th! how amazing! Never, in our wildest dreams we could have imagined going to Cambodia! It is a true blessing!
Cambodia is a Young country, after the genocide that happened 30 years ago, the population is still recovering. 80% are under the age of 30 and 50% is under the age of 15. All the professionals were killed, schools destroyed and families were broken, leaving kids alone with no adults to look after them. 20 doctors survived, and 10 left the country. The health care system is very poor and they clean wáter and sanitation is a big problem in the country. Our team is organizing dental clinics, wound care clinics, health education programs at schools and rural áreas, sports camps (Luis is so excited!), we will be visiting orphanages, praying with them, sharing with them about Jesús, and also visiting hospitals among other things. Local churches are coordinating all these activities and we can't wait to see what the Lord does through each one of us, including the 4 kids going!
Maclau has been praying every night for provision for this trip to Cambodia, and her face when I told her we had plane tickets was priceless! In her Little heart, she prays and knows without a doubt God hears her, and will answer one way or another, she doesn't worry, she enjoys each and every day! no wonder, why Jesús said that we needed to be like children to see God's kingdom!
(Picture: Maclau and her classmates have a prayer station at the cafeterÃa where they pray for missionaries and their needs.)
Last week we learned about God's healing power, intercession prayer and the Holy Spirit, because sometimes we can't do anything, but pray. And the couple who gave us the class, have an amazing ministry, they have a Health center called "Christ healing center" where they have prayer and worship and they focus on the healing of the soul, the scars, the emotional wounds, they pray for the sick and they confort the sick and their families. They also work at a local hospital in San Antonio, Texas. They pray for the sick, for the doctors, nurses, for their families. They are always available to hug, to love people and to bring God's presence in the middle of the sorrow and pain. Wow! it is amazing! Doctors come rushing after they lost a patient, for prayer and confort, and their motto is that "nobody fights sickness alone and no one dies alone, for the Lord is with them always"
My heart inmediately thought about the hospitals in Peru, there is so much neglect and lack of care and love from the health workers....and what a great ministry this would be!
We had a lovely Valentine's day! Maclau had a princess party and Luis and I went out! we even got a gift for our dinner! and I just thought about that, and the Lord knew my thoughts and dinner was provided! praise our good God! Maclau is doing amazing! Her teachers have highlighted three things about her, She is thoughtful, an overcomer, and joyful ! And she now prays out loud for missionaries at lunch time, leads her worship time in class! and her Friends love her and hug her and are enchanted with her. One of her prayers is to be brave, to have Friends, and to try even when she is shy or is hard, to give her best. And she is doing great!
And this week we are learning about crosscultural relationships. So needed, as we break in teams and go into the nations! in my team we have Peruvians (us), americans, a corean girl and a couple from Norway, and we want to work together in unity and love to be as effective as we can be and not damage the work of God among the people!
Keep Enrique in your prayers, his aunt wrote him an email responding to his update letter in a very hurtful way, and he has been discouraged. And keep the Kuluaga's (the missionary family) in your prayers too, they are trying to figure out where the Lord wants them.
And pray for YWAM Ships too! they were given a new ship by France, but they still need provision to equipp the ship. This is a bigger ship and can take up to 20 containers, and these containers will be turn into medical clinics, dental clinics, preschools, delivery rooms, classrooms....anything! and they can drop them off at the islands and just mobilize volunteers. Pray for their ministry! and if you want to know more or volunteer here is the link www.ywamships.net
about the containers....Luis was able to design a TB test/control with x-rays clinic to be built in a container, the people at Ships were thrilled! We are really praying, and seeking God's guidance and the finances to join YWAM SHIPS full time after our training program. So you can help us pray about that too!
Our Ohana (family-medical DTS) had a corean barbacue at the beach! what a blessing!
We are learning a lot, we are experiencing God's love and care in a whole new level that can only happen when you step out and trust His hand is there to catch you. He has been good and faithful to us and we are amazed about how close He is to us, to our every detail. Providing Friends, encouragement, affirmation and financially, friends for Maclau, nice teachers for Maclau, loving leaders and Friends. We are blessed ! thanks for Reading this! thanks for praying for us! Pray for Latin America! I would love to help run a medical training for professionals in south america! And the idea is here, we'll see what the Lord says about that! wouldn't it be amazing?
Please join us in prayer for:
- Enrique (from Colombia) and Noemì (from Mexico) for provision for their outreach trip to Brasil and Amsterdam, for encouragement and God to move in a mighty way in their lives. He is 18 and she is 24! let's pray for the future pastors and missionaries of South America!
- The Kuluaga family, their ministry and guidance from God.
- YWAM Ships! their ministry, for provision!
- For our trip to Cambodia, for God to provide to complete our fees, vaccines, etc.
- For us, to keep growing in knowledge, love and faith in the Lord
- For the three churches in Peru who are supporting us, for them to be faithful.
