Medical Outreaches 2024 have begun!

Hello!

The last 6 weeks have been full for the ministry and for our family. It has been a time of transition, re-starts, and new missionaries in new roles.  Many friends have moved or are moving to new adventures in life or missions. It is never easy to say goodbye, but we are so happy to see them growing and moving to different seasons of life.

Medical Outreaches are going well! We started this 2024 filled with joy and hope!

The teams have completed 2 medical trips and visited 8 villages. Many people have heard the gospel, they have seen the Jesus filmed and encountered His love through the medical teams and outreach teams. Praise God!

Pepaur was a new village as well as Yoidik. In Pepaur, the Oral Bible Translation staff were able to locate the Moere language! They had been looking for that language and they were right there at the clinic. It is so beautiful to see the collaboration and partnership between the teams to reach every language for Jesus.

Outreach #3 has started this week, we have a medical team and 2 teams of young missionaries from Ywam Montana and Ywam Ships Kona serving together!

The ship is going into drydock today!

We have been waiting since December to go back to Drydock and install all the parts we need. Pray for all the crew, drydock crew and the surveys and installations that need to happen. We want to see the ship sailing soon!

Luis has been working hard to comply with all the audits we need and processes to get ready for drydock. Last week, Luis and Joe Novelo, went through the Office Audit and passed! Now they need the ship to go through an Audit and surveys. Keep him in your prayers.

Here in Kona, Luis and I continue to work to mobilize technical volunteers, medical volunteers and outreach teams to the mission field. The medical department is going through some changes and the nurses on staff have finished their commitments. We are praying for more missionaries to join the team to help us carry the ministry forward.

I (Claudia) danced Hula for Easter Sonrise Service. It was a beautiful day. 13 churches and 43 women danced Hula together to celebrate that Jesus is Risen! Maria Claudia and I have continued to share Hula with the community for different activities and welcoming new missionary trainees for the April quarter! We love to dance Hula and learn from the islands in the Pacific. We love the Islands, and it is an honor to learn more with our Hula sisters!

I have been getting iron infusions for the Anemia and low Ferritin levels that shown up in my lab results. Last weekend I had an MRI to check my pancreas and abdomen in Honolulu. Had to fly to another island to get it...crazy!? Living on an island like the Big Island has its limitations. We don't have access to all the healthcare services or specialists. I was quite nervous, but it all came out clear! Thank you Jesus!!!! They can't see any nodule or mass in the pancreas or anywhere in my abdomen. Isn't that incredible? This is the second MRI that cannot detect anything out of the ordinary. Thank you so much for praying for our family and our health.

Maria Claudia is doing well. She continues to do homeschool and Hula. She is growing fast and we are entering the tween years with questions, conversations and exploring the world a little more and seeing good and bad a bit more. She continues to talk to her friends in Papua New Guinea, South Africa and Peru through video calls. It is so sweet to see her friends miss her and still want to connect with her even if they are far away.

We have a wedding of a good friend coming up in June in Maui and the Medical Seminar in August. We are trying to see when we might need to fly to Papua New Guinea in the middle of all of that, or maybe in the fall.

Please keep us in your prayers for the Lord's guidance and timing.

We have so many things to be grateful for this month!

- The Medical Outreaches are going out and serving!

- The Landcruiser we bought finally cleared customs and the medical team has a car in Madang, PNG!!! woo hoo!

- The ship is moving forward with drydock and audit

- Claudia's MRI came back clear

We serve a faithful God and He has provided encouragement, support, hugs, friendship that have been very needed for our family this last month. He is Jehovah Jireh, not only for finances but for every little thing His children need, faith, comfort, courage, hope, joy, peace. He is our strength and our shield.

"When I said, “My foot is slipping,”

your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.

When anxiety was great within me,

    your consolation brought me joy."

Psalm 94: 17-19

Thank you so much for praying for our family, for provision, for the ministry we are part of. Each of you sustain us through your friendship and prayers.

With all our love,

Luis, Claudia and Maria Claudia Choy
