Life with Jesus is extraordinary for sure!

Dear friends and family I don't even know how to sum up the last couple of weeks. Lots have happened in many different areas of our lives and ministry. A surprising couple of days were being part in filming a trailer for a movie called Go! This movie's director is David Cunningham, he previously filmed the movie "Running for Grace" (on Netflix). This movie will show missions and its impact and hopefully encourage people to Go! Luis, Maclau and I were in the trailer! Luis and I were dentists and Maclau was a girl in the village, somewhere on an island in the Pacific. The scene was a mobile dental clinic serving in the village...we knew what we were doing for sure! It was so exciting! Luis also went on board the sailboat to do more shots navigating. Walking with Jesus is always surprising beyond our expectations. Yay!

I will post more pictures on our facebook page and website! :) The ship in Papua New Guinea has been struggling for quite some time. Covid and not moving has been really hard. 2 of our staff made it back in May and June after being 14 days in quarantine in a Hotel in Port Moresby. Our engineers and chief engineer have had to do the same. What times to be perseverant, courageous and press on no matter the difficulties. We have 6 medical professionals willing to go until December and do the 14 day quarantine! Brave women of God indeed. Last week we received news that the PNG government was considering a ban on all international flights. Our new ship managers were flying the next morning, their travel approvals on hold. I stayed up refreshing and refreshing the website, checking facebook for communications and texting and calling our volunteer couple flying from Canada to be ship managers. We had prayed that day with our team. Ban of all flights would be very bad news. The travel restrictions update was released at 4:30pm PNG time. It was already early morning in Canada and our volunteers had to cancel flights, hotel bookings, organize new covid tests, etc. New restrictions are for travelers to be fully vaccinated and do a 21 day quarantine in a hotel in Port Moresby. We have been working all weekend, getting them new hotel reservations, submitting paperwork to be approved by the PNG controller. Praise God approvals came! They should arrive in PNG today. Every week, we see stress rising, we hear about stressful situations on board, we pray, we try to get things in before 12 or 5pm PNG time, we video call our staff on board, we pray with them, we encourage them, we cry with them, we pray some more. Wave after wave. We are blessed with a wonderful team, and we celebrate every good news and we hold each other when facing challenges. We were never meant to do this alone, pushing forward God's kingdom is not easy.

Community meeting with the Ywam Liberty and our team in Kona We have been looking for an AED for the ship, and they all were very expensive. We were praying for provision of supplies, volunteers, visas, etc. Then I got an email from a doctor saying she will donate it for us. Yay! My surprise was bigger when I got the box. We were given the exact AED we wanted, but not only that but the full kit, with extra batteries and case and everything! "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" Ephesians 3:20

Another joyful news is that a doner in Germany wanted to give a YAG laser and an Argon laser to us. With our team we immediately thought of Dr. Wahamu, an excellent ophthalmologist and christian serving in the highlands in Papua New Guinea with very limited equipment. I emailed him and he thought getting both would be too much to ask, but that indeed the hospital is in need of both equipment to treat post op cataract surgery patients and diabetic blindness. When he knew both equipment would be given to the Mt. Hagen hospital...he was so grateful! I wanted to share with you his email and his gratitude. It's the perfect example of how many emails back and forth can help connect people and miracles happen. Because we are the Lord's body and we are to bless one another, encourage one another, to let them know God hears their prayers, our God sees you and hasn't forgotten about you and the people you serve. The equipment will be sent inside the Dental Container that is being built in Germany. Praise the Lord ! "Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you God, our Heavenly Father.Brilliantly Amazing News Indeed for the Mt. Hagen General Hospital and all who seek eye care services at Mt Hagen from the vast length and breadth of Highlands region of Papua New Guinea.Praise GOD Yahweh Almighty indeed and thank God indeed for all HIS humble, dedicated and loving Missionaries at YWAM Medical Ships. Thank God for YWAM Medical Ship!! We are deeply humbled by your passionate hearts and tremendous support always in building up the much needed Medical Structural Capacities in our POORLY resourced hospital in our never ending fight against Blindness in this part of our shared world. We thank God always for your partnership with us as we stand together and march into this "Battle of Physical and Spiritual Blindness" living out HIS Mission "to seek and save the lost" by touching lives, making differences and memorable impacts to the lives of others and living passionately as "Youth With A Mission" to serve for HIS GLORY. (Thanks be to God for HIS Indescribable Gift. 2 Corinthians 9:15) May Almighty God continue to Bless YWAM Medical Ships and all you humble missionaries, your wonderful families, your missionary plans and all your rich and blessed networks and partnerships. Blessings Wahamu " I (Claudia) had my doctor's appointment with the gastroenterologist. He wants to do another eco endoscopy and biopsy, he says it's really important to know what the tumor is to treat it accordingly. This is really sad news for me, I don't want to go through that again. My last biopsy was terrible, they didn't wait for me to be sedated and went inside with me fully awake. If biopsy doesn't work this time, the next step would be exploratory surgery and biopsy. We are praying that when they go back in there won't be anything in my pancreas, putting an end to this whole situation. As you can understand, it is discouraging, but for now we wait and pray. Maclau's visa to Papua New Guinea was approved and we have the sticker on her passport now!

Luis and I were able to meet with the youth group from our home church in Lima through Zoom ! We also had the privilege to run a workshop for the youth group about "peer pressure". Technology is allowing us to be closer to our sending church. We are grateful to be part of our church from here. Maclau still joins the Sunday school from here! I also had the opportunity to do the devotional in our staff meeting.

We also celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on June 26! We had not planned anything, but God is in every detail and knows our hearts and what we want before asking. A lovely missionary family invited Maclau for a sleepover and a trip to Waimea the next day. So we were able to go out to dinner and went paddle boarding the next morning and enjoyed a lovely lunch. It was a lovely day, just the 2 of us. Maclau is enjoying her summer, playing with friends, swimming hours and hours and enjoying dog sitting "Sugar". What do you think missionary kids play? They love to play airport, boarding passes, checking in passports, luggage, layovers and now they are asking for Covid test before boarding the plane! hahahaha!

My grandma Celia (my mom's mom) arrives today! She will be visiting my mom. We are filled with joy and gratitude. God has been so faithful to my grandma and my family. She will be resting and enjoying Virginia with my mom and brother. I'm a little sad we are not there with them. But we celebrate my grandma's health and full recovery after Covid and now she will get to spend time with my mom. We are thrilled!!!! :) Prayer points: - For Claudia's health and full restoration of her pancreas and for the tumor to no longer be there. - For God's wisdom as we navigate different situations as a team. - For Papua New Guinea covid 19 restrictions. - For Peru, for God's wisdom for the authorities and His hand over our country.
